Even though honey has been used for the treatment of ailments since ancient times, it is only in relatively recent years that scientific studies and
analysis of the benefits of manuka honey have been undertaken.
Manuka is now gaining increasing acceptance in modern medicine and as an alternative strategy owing to its antibacterial and antimicrobial activity and properties.

In recent tests conducted at Sydney University’s School of Molecular and Microbial Biosciences, a very high grade manuka honey killed all the bacteria it was being tested on, including antibiotic resistant ‘superbugs’.
This has been attributed to the MGO.
The higher the MGO rating you see on a Manuka Honey, the higher the level of antibacterial activity.
